That's right, Cheese Nips, the perfect ingredient for some cheese burgers sans cheese.  Probably not going to make the list of the healthiest burger but that wasn't going to happen with the burger toppings I had in mind anyways.  Here is what you will need:
Picture
  • 1 lb ground beef (I went with medium ground)
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups crushed Cheese Nips
  • 1/2 onion finely chopped
  • salt (to taste)
  • pepper (to taste)
  • 2 Tbsp Sriracha sauce (A.K.A. Rooster sauce)
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Jerk spice
  • 4 Tbsp BBQ sauce
  • Condiments to top burger with (eggs, bacon, relish, ketchup, mustard and tomato)

How to make it:  Place ground beef and pork into a large mixing bowl.  Add Cheese Nips, eggs, chopped onion, salt, pepper, Sriracha sauce, jerk spice, Worcestershire sauce and BBQ sauce.

Next mix ingredients well by hand.  Tip, have a cookie sheet lined with wax paper handy.  When done hand mixing the burger concoction form patties and place on the cookie sheet.

Push your thumb into the center of your patty when forming your burger which will result in an evenly cooked burger when it comes off the grill.  I like to toss my patties in the freezer for 20 to 30 minutes before grilling to help them hold together better for the grill.  10 minutes before you are about to remove the burgers from the freezer pre-heat your BBQ.  Place patties on the grill and you are on your way.
I grilled these about 10 minutes per side.  For the best flavour results out of your burgers avoid to many flips and squishing the patties with your BBQ flipper.

Another tip, keep an eye out for hot spots on your grill.  The second patty on the bottom row was on a hot spot but still salvageable, while the last burger on the bottom row was in a cold zone.  I like to sauce the cooked side of the patty about 5 minutes after the flip.
After another 5 minutes flip burgers and sauce the other side.

During the grilling process I prepared some additional toppings to take these burgers to the next level.  First some bacon.  I lined a baking sheet with some tin foil, preheated the oven to 350 and baked the bacon for about 12 minutes.

I also fried up an egg.  Eggs on burgers = awesomeness!!  Also toasted buns are a must for next level burgers.

Remove patties from the grill, collect your favourite condiments (I opted for relish, mustard, mayo, tomato and ketchup) and assemble your masterpiece.

The perfect cheese burger sans cheese, thank you Cheese Nips.

Wow, that is a mega burger. I will try the cheese nips but I suspect I will go with a smaller burger. Thanks for the idea.

I am glad you enjoyed them Ivonee. You can switch it up next time by adding your favourite cracker or chip as a substitution for the cheese nips.

Oh my, I love Cheese Nips. I add various crackers to my meatloaf, but not to my burgers. I'm going to try this over the 4th. They look delicious. Thanks for sharing on Sunday's Best Linkup.
