GO HABS GO!!!!!
As a Canadian I have been wanting to try White Castle since about 2004 when a certain film brought my attention to the franchise.  Up in the North the Chateau Blanc is non existent.  Lucky for me south of the border down Windsor way lies a little known place called Detroit Michigan.  They got a local team called the Red Wings that I recently had a chance to watch get spanked by the Montreal Canadians.
After viewing the spectacular victory of le club du hokey in Detroit on Family Day with a crowd of Habs fans outnumbering Wings fans and a few 24 oz tall boys, one tends to develop an appetite.  Luckily on the I-95 towards Port Huron past the neighborhood of Morningside, Detroit MI but before 8 Mile road lies a kingdom known as White Castle.  The Morningside/8 Mile road region is an interesting area of Detroit.  I am glad there was a White Castle located there enticing us to explore the neighborhood as I am sure tourist seldom venture into this area.  Eating in the parking lot of the Del-Pointe Food Center gives one an opportunity to observe the neighborhood from the comfort of their own vehicle.

So through the drive-thru we went as the dining room closes at 10 p.m. at this particular location.  Deciding what to get was also a challenge having never been here before.  A heads up, the burgers at White Castle are slider so don't be afraid to order a few.  The g.f. went for the original slider combo (4 sliders, pop and fries) with a side of mozzarella cheese sticks.  I opted for 4 original sliders and 2 bacon cheese sliders.  After a few 24 oz tall cans at the Wings game I didn't require a pop especially with an hour drive ahead of us.  The g.f. gave up on one of her sliders as well so I ended up eating 7 of the delicious sliders.

Conclusion: White Castle offers some pretty solid burgers at a reasonable price.  The bill for our meal was about $14, which was a huge contrast to the $4 hot dogs they were pushing at the Joe Louis Arena (and they were not the street meat you would expect to find outside of the Rogers Centre but more like the hot dogs you got on hot dog day in grade school).  Also a tip for people wishing to eat at one of the bar and grills near Joe Louis such as Tommy's or Anchor Bar, get there early or be prepared to wait until the puck drops.  Thanks Harold and Kumar for the recommendation!
