I was craving cheese burgers last night, had cheese, ground beef and NO BUNS, URG!!  What to do?  Cheese Burger Pie.

        Here's how I did it.

First I thawed my beef in the sink with cold water.  This took about an hour.  While this was going down I diced a medium size onion.  I put a decent pour of olive oil in my skillet and set it to medium heat.  After my oil got hot I added my onion and gave it a head start before I added the beef.  After about 5 minutes I tossed in the beef and browned it for about 10 minutes.

Then I added 2 generous tbsp's of ketchup, a dash of salt, multiple dashes of pepper, some Worcestershire sauce and a generous tbsp of Rooster sauce (a.k.a Sriracha sauce).  I gave it a good mix and took it off the heat to let cool.

Now for the pie crust.  I pulled out a decent size mixing bowl and added 2 cups of flour.  Then added 1 tbsp of baking powder, 2 tsp of sugar and a few dashes of salt.  Then I hand mixed the dry ingredients and created a well in the middle of the bowl.  I then poured in 2/3 of a cup of 10% cream (I was out of milk and was willing to sacrifice the morning coffee cream for dinner) and 1/3 of a cup of olive oil.

I then mixed these ingredients from the middle outwards and rolled it into a ball.  I placed this ball in a pie plate and pressed the dough outwards covering the bottom and sides of the pie plate.

Preheat oven to 350 and bake for 40 to 45 minutes.  Slice into 6 pieces and enjoy.

I then poured the cooled down meat and onion mixture into the pie shell.  I topped this with a half can (798 ml) of diced tomatoes and 2/3 of a brick of shredded old cheddar.

Overall not a bad dish but at the end of the day I think I would rather have a real cheese burger.  I think if I make it again I would substitute the ketchup for BBQ sauce, add a little garlic to the ground beef and onion mixture and possibly a squirt or two of mustard.  Maybe even pre-cook some bacon and shred it into bits and place them above the tomatoes but below the cheese.  Or maybe just buy buns.......

I have been thinking of ways to do the same thing, but I never actually realized that it can be like this. I am so happy that I found this burger recipe of yours. I want to make this for my family soon, and if you can just give me permission, then I would make it happen. I do hope that I can make things better. I need to make the best dinner for my family as soon as I can.
